Auerodendron northropianum is a large, perennial shrub, growing up to 4 meters in height. It is endemic to the West Indies where it is found growing in coastal forests. Leaves are dark green and shiny. Flowers are off-white and the fruit is a drupe that is red at maturity. All surfaces, including leaves, young stems and flowers have distinct dark punctate glandular dots. This plant is not widely known or abundant in its numbers so it is not widely cultivated.
